Pro-Am Cup decided after close Bathurst qualifying battle

Qualifying at Bathurst is always a highlight and Monochrome GT4 Australia provided this in two frantic 10-minute sessions where the Pro-Am Cup title was decided.

Lachlan Mineeff and Shane Smollen failed to score a pole in their Method Motorsport Porsche 718 Cayman CS RS, but neither did rivals Ryder Quinn and Steve Jakic in the Black Diamond Building and Construction BMW M4 GT4 G82 ensuring the win.

In the opening session, Pro-Am was led by Buckby Motorsport’s Lochie Dalton on a 2m 13.176s time in the Mercedes-AMG GT4 to be fastest in the session.

Second in Pro-Am was just 0.269s off the pace in the form of Aaron Seton in the Gomersall Motorsport Ford Mustang ahead of Mineeff and Quinn.

Rounding out the Pro-Am field was TekworkX Motorsport’s Zoe Woods in the Porsche and debutant Jon Collins in the Zagame Autosport McLaren Artura GT4.

Silver Cup was led by George Miedecke in the Miedecke Motorsport/Lubrimaxx Mustang GT4 on a 2m 13.825s from Gomersall Motorsport’s Jake Camilleri in the Mercedes-AMG, class leader Marcos Flack driving the Method Motorsport McLaren and the Central West Prestige BMW of Tim Leahey.

Ramu Farrell made the perfect start in Am Cup by setting pole on a 2m 16.567s in the TekworkX Motorsport Porsche from Randall Racing’s Jamie Augustine in a BMW and the Method Motorsport McLaren of Anthony Levitt..

The second Randall Racing BMW of John Bowe, Bailey Love piloting the Love Racing by Volante Rosso Motorsport Mercedes-AMG, Game Over’s Tony Quinn in the Porsche and Rob Rubis in the sole Ginetta for Mackay Goodwin/Lloyds Auctions followed.

Rounding out the field was the Property Investment Store McLaren 570s GT4 and Mark Griffith in the Team Nineteen Mercedes-AMG.

It was Silver Cup’s Rylan Gray setting the pace in the Miedecke Motorsport/Lubrimaxx Mustang GT4 on a 2m 13.344s from class rival Tom Hayman by just 0.099s in the Method Motorsport McLaren.

Camilleri is not to be discounted in third as Cody Burcher has work to do as he rounds out the Silver Cup field in the Central West Prestige BMW.

Having already taken the Am Cup title, Jacob Lawrence set pole on a 2m 17.557s in the Randall Racing BMW edging the Property Investment McLaren 570s GT4 of Grant Denyer by 0.151s.

TekworkX Motorsport’s Andrew Georgiadis, Levitt, Love, Griffith, Quinn, Scott Turner in the Ginetta and Randall Racing’s Peter Lawrence completed the Am Cup field.

Pro-Am was decided in TekworkX Motorsport’s Dan Jilesen from Jason Gomersall in the Gomersall Motorsport Mustang GT4, Buckby Motorsport’s Ben Newman and Jakic.

The Silver Cup is up for grabs as the Miedecke Motorsport/Lubrimaxx squad cut the lead to the Flack/Hayman Method Motorsport McLaren by two courtesy of a pair of poles lowering the margin to 23 prior to the twin-one hour events.

The opening race for Monochrome GT4 Australia will take place at 4:50pm AEDT live on 7plus and internationally on GTWorld.
