Chaz Mostert reflects on successful maiden season for Method Motorsport

It proved an exceptional debut season for Method Motorsport in Monochrome GT4 Australia culminating in three titles and multiple class race victories across its three entries.

Method Motorsport achieved race victories in Silver, Pro-Am and Am Cups across the season to walk away with multiple titles at the SRO Motorsport Australia Awards Night.

Marcos Flack and Tom Hayman took the Silver Cup title in their McLaren Artura GT4, while Shane Smollen repeated his title success in 2023 by securing the Pro-Am Cup crown alongside Lachlan Mineeff in a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS CS.

Due to its success during the season, Method Motorsport also secured the Teams’ title as well, marking a superb year for the squad owned by Chaz Mostert and Guy McEntyre.

“I think Method Motorsport for the whole year really blew our expectations out of the water,” Mostert summarised.

“I think for us as a team, we wanted to make sure that we gave our customers every opportunity to win races, while giving them the best service and equipment to do so across the board.

“To come out of the year with three different titles is obviously very special.”

Mostert was quick to credit the driver line-up and team for the results garnered in 2024.

“To have Shane Smollen go back-to-back after he’s been in Monochrome GT4 Australia for two years now was something really special to be a part of, with Lachlan Mineeff playing an integral part.

“Winning the Teams’ title meant a lot to the guys and girls at Method Motorsport. We don’t have a lot of full timers, but especially for the amazing people that have come out and helped us for a lot of rounds it was very special for everyone.

“Also, to all our drivers as well with some committing to the full season and others helping us out at various rounds is something we reflect on.

“Becoming Silver Cup winners with Tom and Marcos was fantastic as the lads worked hard all year. There weren't a whole lot of entries in Silver Cup, but the competition was just as strong, featuring great quality.

“The pair had a great fight with the Miedecke Motorsport Mustang throughout the year and it was just an honour to be part of it.

As for next season, Mostert is excited by the progress of Monochrome GT4 Australia and expects stiffer competition as the category continues to build on its strong momentum.

“We’re excited to be part of Monochrome GT4 Australia, so we’re looking forward to a bigger and better 2025,” said Mostert.

”It’s a fantastic product deserving of more drivers, teams and cars in the future.”

The opening round of the 2025 Monochrome GT4 Australia season is at Phillip Island on April 4-6.
