Race winning combination Tim Leahey and Cody Burcher will aim to replicate their previous performance at Phillip Island’s season opener.
The Silver Cup combination sharing the Central West Prestige BMW M4 GT4 G82 secured a clean-sweep of race wins at the inaugural GT Festival last year held at Phillip Island.
Based in Orange, New South Wales, Burcher and Leahey were a formidable pairing during the latter stages of the 2024 season starting at the GT Festival, before tasting further success at the Bathurst finale.
Leahey has a great understanding of the latest specification BMW after he gave the M4 GT4 G82 its racing debut at the 2023 Monochrome GT4 Australia finale at the Bathurst International before dominating the Am Cup honours at last year’s opening round at Phillip Island.
The entry supported by Ashley Seward Motorsport moved to Silver Cup at The Bend for Leahey as a solo driver, before bringing Burcher onboard for the GT Festival event. The duo took both race victories and this gave Burcher an opportunity to test for BMW’s M Racing Academy.
Although the pairing is expected to contest a partial season due to Leahey’s business commitments, the team will remain a threat to upset the regular contenders.
The opening round of Monochrome GT4 Australia will be held as part of the first Shannons SpeedSeries at Phillip Island on April 4-6.

"It's a great car,” said Leahey.
“BMW has done a great job building this GT4 car and I'm looking forward to getting back behind the wheel.
"I still love driving. I'm nearing the end of my racing career, but there's still a thrill to get in the car and get around that strip of black stuff as fast as I can.
"It's good having Cody as my co-driver too, because it means I know exactly where I'm at.
"I'll be pushing to do all of the rounds this year. I have some business pressures that might be a hurdle later on, but we'll definitely be in the first round and we'll see what happens from there.
"I've been supporting Cody since he was racing karts, so I'm keen to give him as many miles as he can get to keep him sharp for his other pursuits.
"And it's a great team to be involved with. Ash (Seward) and his team are born racers."
