Cameron Crick and Dean Campbell seal maiden Monochrome GT4 Australia race victory in Sydney

The opening Monochrome GT4 Australia encounter at Sydney Motorsport Park was a hard-fought affair and provided a thrilling finish to the hour-long race.

The highly entertaining affair ultimately ended with three class victories spread across three different manufacturers, the lap record being broken, and new drivers making their first podium appearance.

Silver-Am Cup
In the battle for Silver-Am Cup honours that witnessed plenty of attrition, Cameron Crick and Dean Campbell eventually took out the win in the DA Campbell Transport Ford Mustang GT4.

A late charge from Glenn Nirwan in the Tufflift Racing TSM McLaren Artura GT4 resulted in a well-deserved second place alongside Zac Soutar, while Ryder Quinn and Steve Jakic scored their first podium of 2025 in the TekworkX Motorsport BMW M4 GT4 G82.

Lachlan Mineeff delivered a strong performance in the Fisherman’s Wharf Seafood Ginetta G55 GT4, having led the class at the end of his stint. However, a pit infringement when switching with Rob Rubis saw the pair handed a penalty, ultimately taking them out of the podium fight.

Another Silver-Am entry to experience misfortune during the race was Jason Gomersall, whose spin at Turn 12 resulted in fire emerging from the rear wheel of his Ford Mustang GT4. Despite the drama, Gomersall recovered to finish sixth in the class.

Am Cup
In the Am Cup, it was a Method Motorsport 1-2 as Shane Smollen dominated the class to steer his Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS CS to a comfortable 40-second win over teammates Chris Lillis and Nathan Callaghan.

Rounding out the top three behind the two Method Motorsport Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS CSs was Gomersall Motorsport’s Glenn Walker in his BMW M4 GT4 F82.

There was plenty of drama early in the race as the Love Racing Mercedes-AMG and the Lillis/Callaghan Porsche collided at Turn 2 on the opening lap, while damage to the BMW M4 GT4 G82 of Randall Racing’s Jamie Augustine and Peter Lawrence led to the pair’s retirement.

Another to encounter drama on the opening lap was Am Cup leader Jacob Lawrence, who received a drive-through penalty due to a pit infringement. However, he was able to recover to fourth place.

Silver Cup
Reigning Silver Cup title winner Tom Hayman bolstered his title defence in Sydney by adding another win to his 2025 tally alongside Max Geoghegan.

Sharing the Method Motorsport McLaren Artura GT4, the duo led almost the entire race to eventually cross the line four seconds ahead of JGI Triple Eight Race Engineering’s Jarrod Hughes and Summer Rintoule.

Crossing the line just one second behind the Mercedes-AMG GT4 of Hughes and Rintoule was Gomersall Motorsport’s Jake Camilleri, who enjoyed an impressive charge up through the field.

Behind the wheel of a Mercedes-AMG GT4, Camilleri’s race was highlighted by a new lap record of 1m 34.870s, beating Ryder Quinn’s record set last year.
