Ryan Sorensen will make a return to Method Motorsport at GT Festival Hampton Downs next month as he joins the team for the final round of the 2025 Monochrome GT4 Australia season.
Replacing JP Drake in the second Method Motorsport McLaren Artura with Loclan Hennock, Sorensen will link up with the team for the first time since this year’s Meguiar’s Bathurst 12 Hour.
Sorensen had first run with Method Motorsport during its Bathurst 12 Hour campaign in February, but a big incident at McPhillamy Park resulted in a premature end to the race for the entry.
The Bathurst 12 Hour wasn’t the only category Sorensen contested in 2025, with further GT racing experience gained at Round 1 of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia season at Sydney Motorsport Park where he collected two top five finishes in the Pro-Am category alongside Tim Macrow.
Outside of his GT experience, Sorensen has run in historic racing and open wheelers for around a decade, setting him up nicely for his Monochrome GT4 Australia debut next month.
In joining Method Motorsport, Sorensen joins a team that has enjoyed a strong run of success this season as it aims to defend the Silver Cup title through Tom Hayman and Max Geoghegan, who currently lead the class heading into the final round.
Led by Chaz Mostert and Guy McIntyre, the squad has also successfully expanded to four entries this season running a pair each of the McLaren Artura GT4 and Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS CS.
The season finale of Monochrome GT4 Australia will be hosted at Hampton Downs in New Zealand on October 31-November 2.
Tickets to the season finale can be purchased via speedseries.com.au/tickets
QUOTES
Ryan Sorensen,
#24 Method Motorsport McLaren Artura GT4
“I am really looking forward to it. It will be good to get back in the car ad it's been a few months for me so I'm pretty excited,” Sorensen said.
“The Bathurst 12 Hour crash wasn’t the way I had planned to start the year, but it had been a really good weekend up until that moment and I enjoyed it quite a lot so it'll be good to get back in a McLaren again.
“Racing at Hampton Downs should be good. I've definitely never driven there so it'll be a good little end of the year I hope.
"For Loclan, I only know what I've seen online and from what Method Motorsport have provided me. I haven't met him in person yet but I'm pretty keen to do that and try to support his run into the season.
“I can't speak for him obviously but the goal for me is definitely just to have a clean weekend and no mistakes.
“There is a plan to one day race a full season in the Monochrome GT4 Australia series. We are still trying to work a few things out to see if we can make it all work.”
Aaron Reed
Method Motorsport Team Manager
“We are excited to have Ryan join Loclan Hennock for the final round of the 2025 season at Hampton Downs,” Reed said.
“He is a really down-to-earth and just loves racing, which is what we're all about at Method Motorsport.
“To bring Ryan back to the team is stress free, easy and we love helping new guys into motorsport and push them along and get them to where we can.
“He is willing to learn and listen, and then put in 100 per cent effort so it's good to have people like that around our team.”
