Jacob Lawrence to step up to Silver-Am with Lachlan Mineeff signing

Two-time Am Cup Champion Jacob Lawrence will move to the Silver-Am Cup in 2026 after acquiring Lachlan Mineeff as his co-driver for the upcoming Monochrome GT4 Australia season.

Behind the wheel of the Randall Racing BMW M4 GT4 G82, the pair are locked in to contest four of the six rounds, with the two yet to be confirmed.

Since joining Monochrome GT4 Australia in 2023, Lawrence has developed into a star of the series, having won consecutive Am Cup titles in the past two seasons – a remarkable effort considering he had no racing experience prior to debuting in the category.

In his first season with Monochrome GT4 Australia, which first shared the grid with Australian Production Cars in 2023, Jacob completed in the back half of the season and claimed a number of solid results, which include one victory and a handful of podiums.

The following year, the Victorian contested the Am Cup at all six events and was joined by Australian legend John Bowe for most rounds, dominating the class to win the title by more than 120 points – so dominant was Lawrence that he stood on the podium for all but one race of the season, six of which were on the top step.

Having improved drastically in the 2024 season, Lawrence then opted to go solo last year in his attempt to go back-to-back and once again found himself in contention for the title right from the get-go as he opened the season with a clean sweep of wins at Phillip Island.

Lawrence went on to win another four races for the year and claim another podium to comfortably take out the title again by 50 points, eventually planting the seed to give himself a new challenge in 2026.

As for Mineeff, he makes his return to the category after competing in the last three years - two with Shane Smollen and one with Rob Rubis.

Starting off with Smollen in 2023 as a once-off round within the Silver-Am Cup(then known as Pro-Am Cup), the pair started strong in their relationship , before going to another level in their title-winning year in 2024.

Behind the wheel of the behind the wheel of a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, a hat-trick of wins across the opening two rounds set Mineeff and Smollen up for their eventual title charge, which was aided by another win and a further six podiums throughout the rest of their campaign.

Mineeff then joined Rubis in the Ginetta G55 GT4 for last year, where their season highlights included a podium finish in their second race together in Phillip Island and a fastest lap at Sydney Motorsport Park.

Outside of his Monochrome GT4 Australia efforts, Mineeff is a proven race winner across a range of other categories in Australia, including TCR Australia, Formula Ford and the Bathurst 6 Hour, which included a class victory in 2021.

Lawrence and Mineeff have already completed a number of test days together and will begin their official 2026 campaign as part of the season opener at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.

Monochrome GT4 Australia kicks off the season as part of the Shannons SpeedSeries’ LIQUI MOLY GT Festival Phillip Island on 27-29 March.

“After two really strong years in Am, I wanted to challenge myself again. Stepping up to Silver-Am in 2026 is about pushing myself and seeing how far I can go. Hopefully, with a fast Silver alongside me, we can get the car further up the grid and consistently towards the front,” Lawrence said.

“I’ve loved my two years in Monochrome GT4 Australia. I love the cars, the category and the people involved. There aren’t many other categories that appeal to me the way GT4 does, so I’m excited to keep building as a driver in a really strong field.

“I’ve known Lachie since 2024 when he was racing with Shane, and he’s someone I’ve always gotten along well with. He’s obviously a very fast driver and a proven champion, so I think we’ve put together a really strong combination to give it a proper crack this year.

“We’ve seen what Silver-Am entries can achieve – they can absolutely fight for outright wins. I’ll keep my head down, keep working on improving myself, and hopefully we can put ourselves in that position as the season unfolds.

“I’m just excited to get started and see what Lachlan and I can achieve together.”

“I’m really excited about this new opportunity with Jacob and the Randall Racing team. Silver-Am has been a great home for me in GT4 over the past few years, but to join someone like Jake and be part of such a professional family operation is very cool,” Mineeff said.

“From the outside, the team presents at a really high level – the cars are immaculate and everything is prepared properly. I think we’ve got all the tools we need to be right up the front from Round 1 at Phillip Island.

“Jacob’s results, especially considering how little racing he’s done, are very impressive. Pairing that with a proven BMW package and my experience in GT4 and other categories, I think we’ve got everything we need to hit the ground running.

“It’ll be my first time racing the BMW, but I’ve been fortunate to drive a range of different cars. I also do a lot of coaching, so adapting to different cars and tracks is something I’m used to. I’m confident it’ll just be another car to get on top of.

“The team is heading into its third season with the BMW, so I’ll be able to lean on their experience on the technical side. My job is to make sure I get the most out of it and put it where it belongs.

“The Silver-Am field looks like it’s shaping up to be very competitive again, but I’m confident that whenever we roll out, we’ll be in a position to fight at the front and contend for strong results.”
