Keelan Dunston to make Monochrome GT4 Australia debut at Phillip Island

Young gun Keelan Dunston is the latest driver from Aussie Racing Cars to step into Monochrome GT4 Australia, with the Pitstop Racing driver to pilot a Ginetta G55 GT4 at the opening round in Phillip Island.

Competing as a solo entry in the Silver class, this year will be his first outside of Aussie Racing Cars as he makes his return to the sport after a couple of years away from racing.

Starting out in karting alongside sister and fellow racer Madison, Dunston eventually made his car racing debut in the 2018 Aussie Racing Cars Series where he contested rounds at Phillip Island, The Bend and Surfers Paradise.

Finishing every race he started, his best weekend as a whole came on the Gold Coast where he ended the weekend just outside the top 20.

Skipping the 2019 season, COVID-19 prevented Dunston from returning to the series in 2020, with the Queenslander instead running in the Super Sprinters as part of Supercars’ double header in Townsville.

Dunston eventually made his long-awaited Aussie Racing Cars return at Bathurst in 2021 before making his last appearance in a race car later in the year with a number of finishes in the Townsville Tin Tops Series.

The 23-year-old will make his Monochrome GT4 Australia debut at the Shannons SpeedSeries’ LIQUI MOLY GT Festival Phillip Island on 27-29 March.

“I’m incredibly excited to be racing in GT4 this year. It’s a fantastic category and I’m really looking forward to getting out there and competing,” Dunston said.

“I see the Monochrome GT4 Australia Series as the pinnacle of motorsport in Australia. The grid is incredibly strong and the level of competition is tough, which makes it such an exciting place to race.

“Our goal this season is to race every round, push the Ginetta to its limits and keep learning. Every round and every lap is an opportunity for us to improve, so that’s what we’re focused on.

“The series is seriously impressive. The depth of talent across the field and the quality of the cars make it an incredible championship to be part of.

“The Ginetta G55 is an incredible piece of engineering and it really suits my driving style. I’m looking forward to getting the most out of the car this season.”
