Monochrome GT4 Australia put on an entertaining spectacle under the lights of Queensland Raceway as the series' teams and drivers navigated the changing conditions to complete a memorable outing at LIQUI MOLY GT Festival Queensland.
Silver Cup
Daniel Frougas and Chris White produced a stirring performance behind the wheel of the GWR Australia GR Supra GT4 EVO2 to claim victory in the Silver Cup.
A solid start from Frougas and remarkable defending from White contributed to the victory that was Frougas’ first win of the 2026 season, while it was White’s first victory in the series overall.
Finishing in second place by just over a second was Purdie Racing’s Blake Purdie and Jobe Stewart in the Purdie Racing #48 Audi R8 LMS I, while RENNEN Motorsport’s Jensen Shearer scored his second podium after guiding his #46 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS CS to third.
While it was White who claimed the win, the race start certainly belonged to Purdie, who produced a lightning quick charge to get out to a solid lead, only to be brought back into the field once during a safety car period that came right before the pit stop window opened.
That saw the #48 Audi’s lead evaporate to little more than nothing as they eventually dropped behind the #9 GR Supra following the pit stop window due to their succession penalty.
With White coming out ahead of Stewart, the New Zealander was forced to defend his lead after multiple late safety car interventions, however he handled both with ease and comfortably steered the car home ahead of Stewart.
Shearer on the other hand started quite down the order and, along with good strategy and hard racing, fought his way into the podium positions - snatching third place from McElrea Racing’s Jay Murray in the #7 BMW M4 GT4 G82 EVO not long after the final restart - Murray eventually dropping to sixth.
Making up the top five was the #25 Method Motorsport McLaren Artura GT4 of Tom Hayman and Jett Murray in fourth and the #27 Multispares Racing Ford Mustang GT4 of Aaron Cameron and Lachlan Dalton - making five different manufacturers in the top five.
Silver-Am Cup
There was no shortage of drama in the Silver-Am Cup as Lachlan Everett and Andrew Torti secured their first victory behind the wheel of the #88 CAMM Quarries & Concrete Racing GR Supra GT4 EVO2.
In second place for the class was Matthew McCutcheon and Tony Quinn in the #101 GAMe Over GR Supra GT4 EVO2, while Tufflift Racing by TSM’s Zac Soutar and Glenn Nirwan in the #75 McLaren Artura GT4 rounded out the podium.
The victory came off the back of some misfortune for other cars as the #28 Norganic Proteins Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS CS of Caleb Paterson and Scott Green encountered trouble.
The duo had led the class for the majority of the race thanks to some impressive driving from Paterson before Green ran into the side of the #114 Team Soutar Motorsport McLaren Artura GT4 of Will Exton and Jack Johnson, who had spun around in the middle of the track and brought out the safety car as a result of multiple cars being affected by the incident.
With Green stuck behind Johnson, it gave Quinn the lead and elevated Torti to second - with the former eventually chasing down the latter to ultimately claim the nine-second win.
Am Cup
Method Motorsport’s Nathan Callaghan and Chris Lillis have claimed a big win in the Am Cup to move to the top of the class standings following the retirement of the #14 Gomersall Motorsport Ford Mustang GT4 of Glenn Walker.
Having started the race in second place behind Walker, Callaghan had a brilliant opening lap to make the pass on the pole-sitting Walker - a lead that the #64 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS CS never relinquished for the rest of the race.
Claiming a runner-up finish in the class by six seconds was Love Racing by TSM’s Bailey and Rob Love in the #17 Mercedes-AMG GT4, while the far closer gap of less than a second separated the father-son duo and the third-placed Peter Lawrence in the Randall Racing BMW M4 GT4 G82.
There was no shortage of challenges in the class as Walker was the first to retire before rookie Cy Pearson experienced his own form of heartbreak when the Method Motorsport driver went off into the gravel in the first lap of the race, which brought out the first safety car of the race.
That moment effectively lost Pearson his first podium, having worked his way and navigated the #6 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS CS into third after passing fellow Method Motorsport driver Ryan Sorensen earlier in the race.
Sorensen had his own misfortune later in the race when he fell behind the Loves on lap 31, eventually settling for fifth behind Nathan Murray in the McElrea Racing BMW M4 GT4 G82 EVO, who had a spin-out earlier in the race but recovered nicely.
Monochrome GT4 Australia has its final race of the weekend tomorrow at 1:15pm AEST following its first grid walk of the year.
