Monochrome GT4 Australia wraps up Sydney Day 2 with entertaining Practice


Monochrome GT4 Australia returned to Sydney Motorsport Park on Friday afternoon for its second practice session of the LIQUI MOLY GT Festival Sydney.

Despite a red flag halting proceedings for some of the session, the field produced plenty of good lap times as they a number of teams and drivers improved on the benchmarks set earlier in the day.

Silver
Purdie Racing / Team BRM's Blake Purdie and Jobe Stewart topped the Silver-Am class, setting the fastest lap of the session with a 1:33.3755 aboard their Audi R8 LMS GT4.

The #48 pairing was comfortably clear of Miedecke Motorsport with Lubrimaxx's Blake Tracey and George Miedecke, who finished second in class with a 1:34.5816 in their Ford Mustang GT4.

Multispares Racing's Aaron Cameron and Lochie Dalton completed the Silver-Am top three, posting a 1:34.6507 aboard their Ford Mustang GT4

Silver-Am
Tufflift Racing by TSM's Zac Soutar and Glenn Nirwan led the Silver class after setting a 1:33.7349 in their McLaren Artura GT4.

The returning Nick McBride and Dean Koutsoumidis posted the second fastest time in the class, recording a 1:34.1091 aboard their Exedra Motorsport Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO 2.

Gomersall Motorsport's Aaron Seton and series newcomer Anthony Di Mauro rounded out the Silver class top three for the session with a 1:34.2805 in their Ford Mustang GT4.

Unfortunately the class saw the only causality of the session, when Steve Jakic and the #3 Thunder Buddies Racing / Black Diamond BMW M4 GT4 ended up track - the car failing to return for the rest of the session. 

Am
Method Motorsport continued to reign supreme in the Am Cup as title contenders Nathan Callaghan and Chris Lillis topped the timesheets with a 1:35.418 in their Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS CS.

Gomersall Motorsport's Glenn Walker finished second fastest behind the wheel of his Ford Mustang GT4, posting a 1:35.5358 to finish just over a tenth of a second behind the Method Motorsport Porsche.

After topping the timesheets in Practice 1, Method Motorsport's Ryan Sorensen completed the Am class top three with a 1:37.1717 in his McLaren Artura GT4.

With no further track action scheduled for Friday, the Monochrome GT4 Australia field will return to Sydney Motorsport Park on Saturday for qualifying at 1:05pm AEST, with a twilight race the highlight for the round. 

Fans will also have the opportunity to get up close to the GT4 teams, drivers and the cars during the pit lane walk & Driver Autograph Session from 12:00pm AEST ahead of qualifying.
