It was Ginetta leading McLaren to kick off official proceedings at The Bend for Round 2 of Monochrome GT4 Australia.
Mark Cotterell and Jarrod Hughes placed their Ginetta G55 GT4 at the top in opening practice by setting a 1m 22.380s ahead of the Method Motorsport McLaren Artura GT4 of Nathan Morcom, who will have a new co-driver in the form of Tom McLennan this round.
Rounding out the top three was reigning TCR Australia Series winner Josh Buchan in the Zagame Motorsport McLaren Artura GT4 he’ll drive alongside Jason Yu.
Following a historic opening round clean-sweep at Phillip Island, George Miedecke and Rylan Gray placed fourth in the Miedecke Motorsport/Lubrimaxx Ford Mustang GT4 as the second Method Motorsport McLaren shared by Tom Hayman and Marcos Flack completed the top five.
Reigning Monochrome GT4 Australia series winner Shane Smollen led the Porsche charge in sixth alongside Lachlan Mineeff as Rob Love and Antonio Astuti made a solid start to the weekend following a disappointing Phillip Island to place the first Love Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT4 a spot behind.
Newly classed Silver Cup contender Tim Leahey was eighth in the Central West Prestige BMW M4 GT4 G82 from the second Love Motorsport Mercedes-AMG of Bailey Love and Sam Brabham leaving the similar example of Jake Camilleri to round out the top 10.
Cotterell and Hughes also led the Pro-Am Class from Buchan/Yu, with Smollen/Mineeff rounding out the top three.
Silver Cup honours ended in favour of Morcom/McLennan as Miedecke/Gray and Hayman/Flack closely followed.
Mark Griffith was on top in Am Class, but only just in his Mercedes-AMG from GB Galvanising Racing’s Vince Gucciardo and Peter Lawrence in the new Randall Racing BMW M4 GT4 G82 to be shared by Jamie Augustine.
The second and final practice session for Monochrome GT4 Australia is at 2:55pm ACST or 3:25pm AEST.
