After sampling Monochrome GT4 Australia last year at Queensland Raceway Lachlan Mineeff has made the switch full-time thanks to the exciting future he believes the category has.
Mineeff has previously competed as part of TCR Australia with his own operation and has made a successful shift alongside reigning series winner Shane Smollen at Method Motorsport.
The duo have been hard to beat this season in the Pro-Am Cup and Mineeff is excited to receive the opportunity.
“I’m very fortunate to be with Shane (Smollen) this year and he has impressed this year so far,” Mineeff summarised.
“It’s great timing in my career, I valued my time in TCR as I learnt a lot running as a privateer, but to be involved with Method Motorsport has really taken it to the next level."
Mineeff is so far impressed by how the category is structured and is expecting GT4 to build across the season.
“It’s very exciting to have SRO involved in GT4 and GT3 as well due to the vibe it’s bringing via the professional level that things are being run at,” he said.
“For example the way the technical area is conducted, the BOP, the scrutineering of the cars is just that next level and that’s exactly what you want.
“The buzz around the paddock is really good and there are many competitive cars yet to hit the track, with more coming over from international waters.
“There are so many positives to it and I’m only expecting it to grow from here.
As the professional in the line-up, Mineeff lauded the easy way GT4 can be entered for amateur competitors and still can remain a competitive prospect for similar drivers.
“It’s fantastic to see a really, really great line up of drivers in all three classes and it’s a good formula similar to TCR in the fact there are multiple brands supplying factory-built race cars that are applicable around the world,” Mineeff explained.
“The fact you can involve the Bronze driver is awesome and it’s a very accessible way to go racing for them.
“The level of competition is very, very high.”
Round 3 of Monochrome GT4 Australia will be at Queensland Raceway as part of the Shannons SpeedSeries on August 2-4.
