Porsche Sprint Challenge rivals turned teammates at the Monochrome GT4 Australia finale at Bathurst when Andrew Georgiadis and Ramu Farrell paired up.
The pair have raced selected events in Pro-Am of Porsche Sprint Challenge when an opportunity arose through TekworkX Motorsport owner Rob Woods to race the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS CS vacated by daughter Zoe.
Both impressed immediately in what was an event full of firsts for the pairing.
“First time at Bathurst, first time as a pairing as we normally compete individually, new team, new car and new track,” revealed Georgiadis.
“It’s a new series, but very well run and everybody is friendly.”
Farrell led the way in Am Cup qualifying for Race 1 and Georgiadis third in the second session making for two real shots at the podium.
Adjusting to the Cayman from the 997 Cup Car proved fairly straightforward for Georgiadis and Farrell as demonstrated by the qualifying pace both had.
“In the cars we normally drive there’s no ABS, no traction control, none of the aids, so it did take some of the skills out of it, but it gives the driver more confidence to send it into a corner,” Farrell explained.
“We did struggle with pace in the races, but qualifying was great.”
It was their first race weekend competing with TekworkX Motorsport, with Georgiadis and Farrell eager for more outings in the future.
“We haven’t run with TekworkX before, but I’m a personal friend of Rob (Woods, TekworkX Motorsport team owner) and we do business in Sydney together,” Georgiadis explained the connection.
“We drove Zoe’s old Porsche and there was an opportunity to use it for the weekend, so we took that opportunity up.”
It was a successful weekend for Georgiadis and Farrell finishing third in each race to complete an impressive maiden Monochrome GT4 Australia debut.
The opening round of the 2025 Monochrome GT4 Australia season is at Phillip Island on April 4-6.
