Newcomer eager for more in 2025

Gaining experience at the final two rounds of Monochrome GT4 Australia last year will put Anthony Soole in good stead for a full-time campaign in 2025.

The experienced production car competitor made his Monochrome GT4 Australia debut at the penultimate round in Sydney driving the Property Investment Store McLaren 570s GT4.

Soole believes he is prepared to take on the hotly contested Am Cup field, which is expected to grow in 2025.

“I’ve done production car racing for the last 20 years and I decided it was time for a change,” Soole explained.

“To me, it made sense to make the jump into Monochrome GT4 Australia and I do love sports car racing, while this category also provided more sponsorship opportunities.

“The whole idea around running these two rounds was to get my head around the McLaren, the series and to feel it out, so we didn’t come in fresh in 2025.”

Adjusting to the GT4 at a place such as Bathurst proved a learning experience, but Soole was happy with his improvement across the weekend.

“As far as GT4 goes, it’s a lot to wrap your head around trusting the car with extra grip and aero,” Soole reflected.

“It took a while to recalibrate my brain to adjust to this around Bathurst, but we got there in the end.”

In fact, Soole enlisted Grant Denyer to co-drive at Bathurst and the pair achieved Am Cup victory in Race 1 thus proving the older model GT4 models can be a match for the newer versions.

“I think the old girl has proved a match to the newer models,” said Soole.

“But I think it still punches above its weight and it’s proved at Bathurst it was very competitive winning Am Class in Race 1.”

The opening round of Monochrome GT4 Australia will be held at Phillip Island on April 4-6.
