Debutants end opening day of Monochrome GT4 Australia season fastest

Monochrome GT4 Australia completed its first day of competition at the Shannons SpeedSeries' GT Festival Phillip Island at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit with a 40-minute Pre-Qualifying session.

Silver Cup

Nippy’s duo Blake Purdie and Daniel Price continued their opening practice form to top Pre-Qualifying in Silver Cup. 

The team set a 1m 34.268s to be just 0.098s off their earlier time in the Nippy’s Audi R8 LMS GT4. 

Just 0.051s in arrears was the lead Method Motorsport McLaren Artura GT4 of Tom Hayman and Max Geoghegan, while Jarrod Hughes completed the top three in the JGI Triple Eight Race Engineering Mercedes-AMG GT4 shared by Summer Rintoule.

Silver-Am Cup

The Ford Mustang was on top in Silver-Am Cup once again as Aaron Seton set the pace in the Gomersall Motorsport entry at 1m 35.082s he is driving alongside Jason Gomersall. 

Another Ford ended up second, with Cameron Crick steering the DA Campbell Transport Mustang GT4 he shares with Dean Campbell 0.161s off Seton’s time. Third was Tasmanian duo Lochie Dalton and Ben Newman in the Buckby Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT4 a further 0.010s off the pace.

Am Cup

Randall Racing’s Jacob Lawrence continued to lead the way in Am Cup by dipping into the 1m 37s bracket. Lawrence achieved a 1m 37.872s in his M4 GT4 G82 to lead the team entry of Peter Lawrence and Jamie Augustine by 0.136s, with Glenn Walker in the older spec BMW completing the top three moving towards qualifying.

Action on Saturday for Monochrome GT4 Australia begins at 11:00am with two 10-minute Qualifying sessions and the opening race of the season at 2:30pm (all times in AEDT) all to be broadcast live on 7plus in addition to GTWorld for international viewers.
