Josh and Diesel Thomas are preparing to make their Monochrome GT4 Australia debuts at Round 2 in Sydney with TekworkX Motorsport.
The duo has competed in a vast array of national categories as part of the burgeoning TFH Racing operation in a relatively short time, and will now add Monochrome GT4 Australia to that list in the TekworkX Motorsport prepared Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 CS MR.
Although Josh and Diesel have only taken up circuit racing in the past couple of years, the duo have built up a remarkable amount of experience, competing in the National Trans Am Series, Aussie Racing Cars Series, Toyota GAZOO Racing Australia GR86 Cup and RX-8 Cup.
The link between the Thomas family and TekworkX was made through Paul Morris and son Nash, who is teaming up with Zoe Woods in the team’s lead Porsche. The addition of another Porsche expands TekworkX Motorsport line-up to three for Sydney, which also features the BMW M4 GT4 G82 for Ryder Quinn and Steve Jakic.
The Thomas pair has completed multiple tests at Queensland Raceway in preparation for their Monochrome GT4 Australia debut.
Round 2 of Monochrome GT4 Australia will be held at Sydney Motorsport Park forming part of the Shannons SpeedSeries’ GT Festival Sydney line-up on May 2-4.

“It came together due to our relationship with the Norwell Motorplex through Nash and Paul Morris being close family friends of ours,” said Thomas.
“Nash is running alongside Zoe Woods in Monochrome GT4 Australia for Rob Woods’ TekworkX team. We’ve met Rob during the past year, which was our first in motorsport and he invited us out a couple of weeks ago when Zoe was doing some laps. Diesel and myself were invited to do some laps in the Porsche, so one thing led to another where we’re both in for the next round in Sydney.
“It’s super different from what we’ve done previously. We’ve done a bit of this and a bit of that, but it’s good we’re not overly experienced in any particular category. We’ve definitely enjoyed the ABS and traction control aspects of the Porsche compared to the TA2, which is a bit loose and wild.
“The Porsche is pretty direct and the hardest thing is adjusting to the ABS as I haven’t driven a race car with it before. I’ve been trying to learn how to use it, though I haven’t had much time in the Porsche, but I’m sure we’ll work it out.
“We’re not sure on completing the rest of the season, it’s just for this round currently. We’ll see how we go in Sydney because my father is quite spontaneous and we wind up having a good result, he may want us to continue. We’re doing a lot of racing, so no promises.
“I’m looking forward to racing at a Shannons SpeedSeries meeting, they do look like a very well run meeting with some big names and good cars, plus I’m excited to run in Monochrome GT4 Australia.”
