Silver

Silver Cup leaders Method Motorsport’s Tom Hayman and Max Geoghegan have produced an epic double Qualifying session to edge closer to the cup title on board their McLaren Artura GT4.
Hayman took the reins in Qualifying 1 and was on top of the timesheets for most of the session, his time of 1:36.557 almost four-tenths faster than Jarrod Hughes in the JGI Triple Eight Racing Mercedes-AMG GT4.

In third by the smallest of margins was the Method Motorsport duo’s Silver Cup title contender Rylan Gray in the Miedecke Motorsport with Lubrimaxx entry, where the rising star was just one hundredth of a second off the Mercedes.

The top three stayed the same in Qualifying 2, however Gray’s teammate George Miedecke managed to pip Summer Rintoule for a second-place start in tomorrow’s outing, with almost seven-tenths the difference between the two during the session.
Geoghegan himself had a dominant run as he went half a second faster than Miedecke - putting the Silver Cup leaders in a strong position for the title.

Silver-Am

Aaron Seton and Jason Gomersall have set themselves up nicely for the Silver-Cup title with pole position in Race 1 thanks to a strong lap from Seton.
Running in the Gomersall Motorsport Ford Mustang GT4, Seton comfortably took pole position over Daniel Frougas in the GWR Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO 2 he shares with Tim Berryman by more than four-tenths of a second, while Tufflift Racing TSM’s Zac Soutar qualified third in class a further four-tenths off the Toyota.

In a massive shakeup for the grid, Seton and Gomersall’s main title rivals in Cameron Crick and Dean Campbell will start Race 1 from three places back after Crick qualified in fourth - almost one second off Seton.

Campbell wasn’t able to do much better in Qualifying 2 as he also ended the session in fourth, however with Gomersall starting behind him in Race 2, there remains a glimmer of hope to stay in the title fight.

Taking pole position for Race 2 was series debutant Glenn Chappel, who steered the Racelab Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO 2 he shares with Shaun Varney as he was two tenths faster than Berryman, while it was another new face and Toyota driver in Jeremy Gray who finished the session in third.

Despite not going on pole, Berryman will still score a crucial point towards his and Frougas’ championship standings with new entires for GT Festival Hampton Downs not eligible to score points.

Am Cup

Randall Racing’s Jacob Lawrence has put himself in the box seat to seal the Am Cup title in Race 1 of GT Festival Hampton Downs despite not qualifying on pole for either race.

Qualifying in fourth for the Am Cup for Race 1 and second for Race 2, the BMW M4 GT4 G82 driver did what he needed to do to put himself in a strong position for the title as he doesn’t need much from later today to seal the deal.

His main title rivals in Nathan Callaghan and Chris Lillis kept themselves ever so slightly in the hunt as the former put the Method Motorsport Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS CS on pole in Qualifying 1.

Callaghan’s lap six was enough to knock off Lawrence who had occupied provisional pole the whole session up until the point before the Method Motorsport driver’s final lap time of 1:38.585 sealed pole position for the class by two tenths.

The next best driver in the class was Bailey Love in the Love Racing TSM Mercedes-AMG GT4, who also notched a late lap to earn a higher Race 1 starting position over Lawrence, who qualified in third ahead of debutant Ryan Sorensen.

Although he qualified fourth in the first session, Sorensen made a remarkable jump in Qualifying 2, as he put the Method Motorsport McLaren Artura GT4 on pole position for Sunday’s race.

Outside of one flying lap early in the session, which saw Lillis on provisional pole, Sorensen led the way for the whole session with his lap four time of 1:38.408 remaining unbeaten, despite Lawrence coming to within seven-hundredths of a second.

Monochrome GT4 Australia is back on track with Race 1 at 10:45am AEDT / 12:45pm AEDT, which Aussie fans can watch via the live and free 7plus broadcast.
