Monochrome GT4 Australia held its second practice session of the day in much better conditions as the 33 cars continued to build on their strong opening morning.
Outside of an incident to the Gomersall Motorsport Ford Mustang GT4 of Aaron Seton and Jason Gomersall, which ended up in the wall early in the session and brought the red flag out, it was a fairly straightforward affair as teams and drivers prepared for a big Saturday at The Bend.
Silver
Blake Purdie and Jobe Stewart have made it two from two after topping the time sheets in Friday’s Practice 2.
Behind the wheel of the Purdie Racing Audi R8 LMS GT4, the duo’s best time came on the final lap of the session with a 1:55.974.
Finishing the session in second place was the Multispares Racing Ford Mustang GT4 of Cam McLeod and Mason Harvey, with the pair’s best time just short of eight tenths slower than the leading Audi.
Going third fastest was their Multispares Racing teammates Aaron Cameron and Lochie Dalton, who guided their Ford Mustang GT4 to a time of 1:57.389 – six tenths of a second off their teammates.
Rounding out the top five fastest for the class was Jensen Shearer in the Rennen Motorsport Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS CS in fourth and Tayler Bryant in the DNA Autosport GR Supra EVO 2 – the two cars eventually split by one hundredth of a second.
Silver-Am
Taking out the fastest time in the Silver Cup was Norganic Proteins’ Caleb Patterson and Kent Quinn in their Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS CS with a time of 1:57.910.
Going second fastest for the session was the Ekebol Team MPC Ford Mustang GT4 of Tony D’Alberto and Jarrod Keyte, with the pair’s time of 1:57.994 just eight hundredths of a second off the fastest crew.
The gap between second and third proved just a bit more than the top two as Exedra Motorsport’s Nick McBride and Dean Koutsamidis were two tenths off the Ford Mustang GT4 of D’Alberto and Keyte.
With the fourth fastest car in the session being the Tufflift Racing by TSM McLaren Artura GT4 of Zac Soutar and Glenn Nirwan, and the fifth fastest time being that of Ryder Quinn and Steve Jakic in the BMW M4 GT4 G82 - it saw five different manufacturers taking the top five spots of the session.
Am Cup
Like Purdie and Stewart, the Am Cup saw the Practice 1 pace setters top the time sheets again with Chris Lillis and Nathan Callaghan going fastest for the session in their Method Motorsport Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS CS.
The pair’s time of 1:58.531 proved faster than the next best Am Cup entry in Glenn Walker in the Gomersall Motorsport Ford Mustang GT4 – the same top two from Practice 1 split by just over a second.
With Love Racing by TSM’s Bailey and Rob Love going third fastest for the session, it made for an identical top three to the opening practice session of the day.
