Monochrome GT4 Australia wraps up Friday with entertaining Practice

Monochrome GT4 Australia wrapped up Friday running at Queensland Raceway with a hugely competitive Practice 2 session, where the teams and drivers were getting their final opportunities to prepare for Saturday’s qualifying and racing.

Silver
Purdie Racing’s Blake Purdie and Jobe Stewart finished the day on top of the Silver class thanks to a strong lap from the latter in the team’s #48 Audi R8 LMS GT4. Stewart’s fastest lap came in the back half of his stint as a time of 1:13.787 remained unbeaten.

Second for the session was Rennen Motorsport's Jensen Shearer, who continued his impressive form in his debut season. Behind the wheel of the #46 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS CS, Shearer clocked a 1:13.834 midway through Practice 2 to post a time less than five hundredths of a second adrift of the South Australians.

Rounding out the top three was Multispares Racing's Aaron Cameron and Lochie Dalton in the #27 Ford Mustang GT4. The pair once again featured prominently near the top of the timesheets throughout the session, eventually falling six tenths off the pace.

Silver-Am
CAMM Quarries & Concrete Racing topped the Silver-Am class as Lachlan Evennett and Andrew Torti guided their GR Supra GT4 EVO2 to an unbeaten lap time of 1:13.866.

With Torti starting the session in the car, it took Evennett just three laps to set the class’ best time having taken over midway - their closest competitors being another GR Supra, with Matthew McCutcheon producing a solid lap time of 1:13.933 in the #101 Game Over GR Supra GT4 he shares with Tony Quinn.

Thunder Buddies Racing / Black Diamond completed the top three courtesy of Ryder Quinn and Steve Jakic in the BMW M4 GT4 G82. Quinn’s best effort of 1:14.041 left them just under two tenths of a second shy of the class-leading GR Supras.

Am
Gomersall Motorsport continued its strong start to the weekend with Glenn Walker leading the Am class aboard the Ford Mustang GT4. Walker's best lap of 1:14.230 proved enough to comfortably secure top spot in the class for the second consecutive session.

Method Motorsport filled the remaining positions in the top three for the session, with Nathan Callaghan and Chris Lillis finishing second in their Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS CS after the latter set a 1:14.981 on his penultimate lap.

Method Motorsport teammate Cy Pearson had one of his best sessions of his rookie year as he guided his #6 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS CS to a lap time just four tenths off Callaghan and Lillis – an impressive effort considering he missed the last seven minutes of the session.
