The Method Motorsport McLaren Artura GT4 of Tom Hayman and Marcos Flack ended the opening day of Round 2 for Monochrome GT4 Australia at the top in what were inclement conditions at The Bend.
It was a Method Motorsport 1-2 courtesy of the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 MR CS of reigning series winner Shane Smollen and Lachlan Mineeff placing second falling 0.089s of the McLaren’s 1m 35.637s benchmark.
Making three manufacturers at the top, Steve Jakic and Ryder Quinn sharing the Black Diamond Building and Construction BMW M4 GT4 G82 were just 0.289s off the pace.
Zoe Woods in the TekworkX Motorsport in another Porsche was fourth ahead of the first Love Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT4 of Bailey Love and Sam Brabham, while Am Cup leader Vince Gucciardo was an impressive sixth outright in the GB Galvanising Racing Cayman.
Pacesetters in the opening session, the Mark Cotterell Master Jeweller Ginetta G55 GT4 was seventh with Mark Cotterell and Jarrod Hughes, while debutant Jackson Rooney placed Tony Quinn’s Game Over Mercedes-AMG GT4 in eighth ahead of Jacob Lawrence in the lead Randall Racing BMW.
Rob Love and Antonio Astuti rounded out the top 10 in the second Love Motorsport Mercedes-AMG as Jake Camilleri, the other Method Motorsport McLaren of Tom McLennan and Nathan Morcom, Mark Griffith, plus category debutant Rob Rubis for Mackay Goodwin/Lloyd Auctions completed the entries electing to run.
Action for Monochrome GT4 Australia continues with qualifying at 8:50am ACST or 9:20am AEST tomorrow morning.
