Shane Smollen joins Method Motorsport for 2024

The team at Method Motorsport are excited to announce that the reigning champion of the 2023 Monochrome GT4 Australia Series is joining the team as part of its customer team for the 2024 season.

Smollen comes with an impressive resume of over 200 race starts in addition to title success as Carrera Cup Pro Am Champion, Australian GT (Challenge) Champion, GT4 Australian Champion and outright winner Bathurst 6 Hour. Whilst he has experience across multiple manufacturers his success and passion aligns with  the Porsche brand. This season he brings with him the latest Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport to the Method Motorsport racing stable.

Method Motorsport will be supporting Shane both on and off the track as part of their customer racing portfolio and hope to take him to another championship win this season sporting the number 1 on his car this year, he will be the man to catch.

“It's exciting to be part of this exciting new chapter for Chaz and his partners,” said Smollen.

“The desire to constantly improve is a key motivator for me and the opportunity to work closely with Chaz, and an exceptional engineering team was too good to pass up.

“It was a huge plus to also retain our championship winning on track support team from Autohaus Hamilton and of course Aaron Reed.

“I have immense respect for Chaz's driving ability and positive attitude. He's the type of team owner you don't want to let down and I know there will be significant learning opportunities across the season.

“I have to be at my best to defend this title given the quality of drivers committed to the 2024 championship and beyond so we will be doing what it takes to nail the one percenters race-by-race.

“We are yet to confirm a co-driver and that will be the final piece of the puzzle.”
Team co-owner Chaz Mostert said he was keen to work with Shane this season and have him as part of the team.

“I have seen Shane for a number of years around the race track racing in different categories,” said Mostert.

“Shane’s passion and desire to win aligns with what we are trying to achieve at Method Motorsport. Having someone like Shane sign on with us is a dream come true.”

Smollen brings continuity as the team from his championship last year will join Method Motorsport led by Team Manager, Aaron Reed.

We are excited to be shortly announcing who will engineering Smollen for the 2024 campaign. We can confirm that this person bears a resume to withhold and will bolster the ranks at Method Motorsport.
