Lachlan Mineeff and Shane Smollen are aiming to secure the Monochrome GT4 Australia Pro-Am title in this weekend’s penultimate round of the series at Sydney Motorsport Park, but are expecting tough competition from their nearest rivals.

Mineeff and Smollen hold a 53-point margin at the top of the standings; holding onto that advantage would see them wrapping up the title with a round to spare, but Mineeff is expecting that task to be far from straightforward.

“The goal is to maintain our championship lead so we can head to the final round at Bathurst with no pressure, but we’ll have to be on our absolute A-game – the size and quality of the Pro-Am entries is the best it’s been all year,” Mineeff said.

To give themselves the best-possible chance of success, Mineeff and Smollen tested their Central Element/Equipment Dynamics Porsche Cayman GT4 RS a couple of weeks ago, trialling various setup options.

“It was a good opportunity to explore different adjustments and understand how they affect the car’s balance,” Mineeff said.

“The Sydney Motorsport Park circuit can evolve significantly over the course of an event as more rubber is laid down, so it’s good to have an understanding of how to manage different scenarios.

“Shane and I have worked well together all year and we like a similar setup, so hopefully that will work in our favour.”

This weekend will feature the standard format of twin one-hour races, to be shown live on 7PLUS.
