Wet circuit brings in field in practice session one

George Miedeke and Rylan Gray have had a strong start to Monochrome GT4 Australia’s fourth round of the season after Gray topped the overall timesheets in the series’ opening practice session of the weekend.

With a wet Sydney Motorsport Park circuit awaiting competitors due to morning rain, Gray steered the #35 Miedecke Ford Mustang GT4 to a competitive time of 1:36.2626 - edging out fellow Silver Class regular, Tim Leahey.

With both entries completing 16 laps during the 40-minute session, Gray ended up just over one tenth faster than the #22 BMW M4 GT4 G82, while even less time separated Leahey and the next best Silver Cup entry of Marcos Flack and Tom Hayman, with the duo’s best lap time in the Method Motorsport McLaren Artura GT4 just four hundredths of a second off.

In fourth for the session was another Silver Cup contender in Jake Camilleri, while Method Motorsport’s Lachlan Mineeff and Shane Smollen rounded out the top five and went fastest in the Pro-Am class in their Porsche 718 Cayman.

Aaron Seton and Jason Gomersall were the fastest of the AM class drivers with the seventh fastest time of the session - the Gomersall Motorsport Ford Mustang GT4 seven tenths faster than fellow class competitor Anthony Levitt, who went eighth fastest overall.

The series will have another practice session at 3:10pm AEDT before two 10-minutes Qualifying sessions from 7:25pm AEDT set up tomorrow's grid.
