Monochrome GT4 Australia opens the season in spectacular fashion at Phillip Island

The racing was torrid but fair in Race 1 of the 2025 Monochrome GT4 Australia season opener at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit as part of the Shannons SpeedSeries.

Silver Cup

Defending Silver Cup winner Tom Hayman has scored victory at Phillip Island alongside debutant co-driver Max Geoghegan for Method Motorsport.

Hayman lost the start and was third at the end the first lap, but a superb second stint from Geoghegan lifted the McLaren Artura GT4 to second. The 10s penalty handed to Blake Purdie and Daniel Price due to a penalty infringement didn’t matter in the end as Geoghegan hunted the Nippy’s Audi R8 LMS GT4 down in the closing stages.

Purdie and Price scored second on debut, while George Miedecke experienced a wild moment at the final corner after sending the Miedecke Motorsport/Lubrimaxx Ford Mustang GT4 across the gravel trap to softly hit the tyre wall on the way to third alongside Rylan Gray.

It was a solid performance from Nash Morris and Zoe Woods to secure fourth in the TekworkX Motorsport Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS CS after holding off the JGI Triple Eight Engineering Mercedes-AMG GT4 of Summer Rintoule and Jarrod Hughes, who made a strong recovery. Woods was able to hold ground against Rintoule during the second stint the exciting battle between the two crews.

Jake Camilleri was a contender late in the race, but also had a penalty infringement penalty and finished the Gomersall Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT4 in seventh.

Silver-Am Cup

It was a Ford Mustang GT4 battle early in Silver-Am Cup between Gomersall Motorsport and the DA Campbell Transport teams, but it was the former taking victory.

The experienced Gomersall Motorsport pairing of Aaron Seton and Jason Gomersall led throughout despite an early challenge from Cameron Crick in the DA Campbell Transport Ford Mustang GT4.

Crick and Dean Campbell still finished second to deliver a Ford Mustang GT4 1-2 in front of the Blue Oval’s top executives visiting for the day.

Rounding out the podium was Ryder Quinn and Steve Jakic in the Thunder Buddies Racing BMW M4 GT4 G82 after a charging drive from the latter.

Lochie Dalton and Ben Newman finished fourth in the Buckby Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT4 as the Zagame Autosport McLaren Artura GT4 shared by Josh Buchan and Jason Yu completed the top five.

Am Cup

Defending Am Cup title winner Jacob Lawrence climbed from fifth to take victory for Randall Racing.

Lawrence outclassed the field in his BMW M4 GT4 G82 to defeat the Method Motorsport Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS CS of debutants Chris Lillis and Nathan Callaghan.

Glenn Walker filled out the podium in the Gomersall Motorsport BMW M4 GT4 F82 ahead of the second Randall Racing entry of Jamie Augustine and Peter Lawrence.

Love Racing’s Bailey and Rob Love led Am Cup early, but faded in the second half of the race to complete the top five.

Race 2 for Monochrome GT4 Australia at Phillip Island is at 10:30am AEST live on 7plus and GTWorld YouTube for international viewers.
