Aspiring GT4 teams and drivers have the rare opportunity to be part of global motorsport history with the last Audi R8 LMS GT4 up for grabs.
Audi currently has a strong presence in Australian GT racing scene with multiple winning drivers in GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS running the GT3-spec Audi R8 LMS EVO II, while Blake Purdie and Daniel Price represent the marque in Monochrome GT4 Australia behind the wheel of the older spec Audi R8 GT4.
Boasting a normally aspirated V10 gasoline engine with up to 495 horsepower, the Audi R8 LMS GT4 sits in between the two vehicles Audi R8 LMS EVO II and Audi R8 GT4 in regard to performance. With the homologation’s validity having been extended until the end of 2031, the car is officially eligible to compete in Monochrome GT4 Australia.
The model has experienced lots of success around the world, including the GT4 European Series where Team Speedcar’s Robert Consani and Benjamin Lariche have achieved multiple wins this season.
Director of Audi’s Victorian based Customer team in Melbourne Performance Centre, Troy Russell was hopeful the car would find its way to Australia.
“It’s a fairly unique opportunity to own the last ever GT4 Audi ever made in the world - especially a car of this calibre,” Russell said. “For me, it would be great to see the car on the Monochrome GT4 Australia grid from a nostalgic point of view. Steve McLaughlin has the last Audi R8 LMS Ultra from when Christopher Mies used to run, so it’d be nice to have the last ever Audi GT4 in Australia too.”
“It’s a great performer and I have no doubts it would bring good results.
