Post-race penalties lead to Phillip Island results change

Class results have been amended after penalties were applied to some competitors at the conclusion of the opening round of the Monochrome GT4 Australia Series.

The Black Diamond Building and Construction BMW M4 GT4 G82 of Steve Jakic and Ryder Quinn was disqualified from the opening race despite finishing second in Pro-Am elevating the Ginetta G55 GT4 of Mark Cotterell and Jarrod Hughes into the runner up position.

Despite contact in pit entry delaying the pair, Method Motorsport’s Shane Smollen and Lachlan Mineeff finished third in Pro-Am driving a Porsche Cayman 718 GT4.

The Pro-Am winning McLaren Artura GT4 of Jason Yu and Josh Buchan was also penalised 40 seconds, but still won the class.

The Randall Racing BMW M4 GT4 F82 of Peter Lawrence and Jamie Augustine was penalised 40 seconds, dropping out of fourth in Am Class.

In Race 2, as reported, penalties affected the outright result as both Method Motorsport McLaren Artura GT4s failed to serve the full pit stop time leading to a pit lane penalty each.

But in Pro-Am Class, the DNA Racing Team McLaren of Buchan and Yu was disqualified from its Pro-Am Class victory elevating the Method Motorsport Porsche shared by reigning series winner Smollen and Mineeff to the win.

Cotterell and Hughes scored second in Pro-Am Class, with the sole remaining entry of Jakic and Quinn retiring following contact during the race.

Smollen and Mineeff lead the way on 40-points, with Cotterell and Hughes just four behind in Pro-Am.

Tim Leahey leads in Am after scoring a perfect 50 lying 14-points ahead of Jacob Lawrence and John Bowe of Randall Racing. Mark Griffith sits third on 25-points.

George Miedecke and Rylan Gray also scored a perfect 50 in Silver Cup, 14 ahead of Method Motorsport pairing Marcos Flack and Tom Hayman. Jake Camilleri rounds out the top three on 27-points.
