Rising star teams up with strong Am for 2026 Monochrome GT4 Australia charge

Monochrome GT4 Australia will welcome a brand new entry in 2026 with teenage sensation Lachlan Evennett and gun Am driver Andrew Torti entered for the full season behind the wheel of a Toyota Supra GT4 EVO 2.

The pair, who met racing Formula Ford together in recent years, will tackle the Silver-Am class with highly esteemed Australian motorsport outfit BF Racing.

Evennett enters the season as one of the country’s fastest growing young talents, having shown plenty of talent behind the wheel across a range of categories despite only competing for a short period of time.

Having only gotten his first taste in motorsport in 2021 when he joined karting, the Australian-American had a significant rise over the next two-year period in the discipline before making his official racing debut in Formula Ford with Francis in 2023.

Since then, he has gone on to race in popular national categories such as the TGRA GR Cup, Trico Trans Am Series, Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Super Series and TA2 Muscle Car Series, while simultaneously running in the National Formula Ford Series, where he had his best return last year ending up third overall after a consistent season of podiums.

Evennett also managed to make his first appearance in Monochrome GT4 Australia in 2024 when he ran alongside Rob Woods in the Tekworkx-backed Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS CS – the pair enjoying two top five finishes in the Silver-Am Cup.

His teammate, Torti, has had quite a successful run in open-wheelers himself as he ended last year with a championship trophy, having topped the Australian Formula Ford 1600 Nationals class.

Torti has spent the majority of his racing career in Formula Fords, having karted in his junior years before taking a hiatus to focus on his career in general. The 45-year-old then returned to the category a few years back and has never looked back as he went from strength to strength in the series.

His impeccable record in Formula Ford at a national level has seen him enjoy more than a dozen podium finishes despite having made just over 20 appearances in the category.

It was during last year’s title-winning campaign that Torti and Evennett met, as they locked away the deal later in 2025 and have been working hard building towards this season, with weekly simulator sessions a major part of the training.

In addition to his Monochrome GT4 Australia competition, Evennett will also campaign in the GT4 European Series – one of SRO Motorsports’ largest GT4 fields globally– as he looks to continue his growing journey.

The pair will get some crucial testing time completed before making their series debut alongside the rest of the Monochrome GT4 Australia field for the Shannons SpeedSeries’ GT Festival Phillip Island on 27–29 March.

“I’m looking forward to returning to Monochrome GT4 Australia next month as that style of racing is still fairly new to me,” Evennett said.

“I obviously have more experience in other categories and open-wheel racing, so it’s definitely a different challenge. I did one round with Tekworkx in 2024, but coming back to do the full series is really exciting.

“There is quite a strong appeal for us in the category as it’s a different type of racing where you have a teammate and really need to work together, support each other and look after one another.

“That’s something I think I am really going to enjoy. I get along well with Andrew as he’s extremely motivated, and we both want to work hard and achieve strong results.

“Already, we’re putting in a lot of work together. We spend plenty of time on the simulator and are really focused on all aspects of our preparation. It’s been great making sure we’re doing everything we can to perform at our best.

“Andrew is incredibly driven, which gives me a lot of confidence heading into the season and, because we are putting in the hours and we have a strong car, we have high expectations about challenging for some silverware.

“The competition will be tough compared to when I last raced in the category, but that just makes it more exciting. I’m really looking forward to the challenge.”

“GT4 wasn’t originally on my horizon, but when the opportunity to join Lachlan came up, I jumped on board straight away, so I am extremely excited to be here and racing,” Torti said.

“A lot of work has gone into this already, from time on the simulator to fitness training. We’ll start testing in the coming weeks. For me, Lachlan is a great kid with a bright future and I want to be able to help as much as I can continue on their upwards trajectory.

“The whole team behind us is extremely high quality and hugely committed. That support can be the difference between just getting through races and achieving strong results, which gives me a lot of confidence heading into the season.

“With that said, our expectations are to be competitive. Even though the field is strong, we believe we have the quality to get some serious results this season.

“I love the whole GT4 experience, and I’d absolutely like to take that and do something in Europe down the road. I’m not too old, and I think I’m fitter than ever, which could prove to be the difference.

“Like anything, the more time and effort you put in, the more results you’ll get back. I’ve been in the simulator every week since we agreed to do this, so while there’s plenty of pressure, I’m incredibly excited.”
