Team Soutar Motorsport has secured the signature of an up-and-coming young driver, with Victorian Jack Johnson to race for the team in the 2026 Monochrome GT4 Australia season.
Johnson will pilot one of the team’s McLaren Artura GT4s in the Silver Cup in what will be just his third ever year racing in cars, having graduated from karting in 2024.
While the 20-year-old is predominately new to running cars at a national level, having only competed in Challenge Bathurst at the end of the year in addition to his Formula Ford campaign, Johnson had an impressive five-year stint in karting before his eventual graduation.
His official car racing debut came at the start of 2024 thanks to Garry Rogers Motorsport and the Bargwanna family. He raced in the Victorian State Series’ Hyundai Excels category, with Johnson finishing the year inside the top 10 overall, his most complete weekend coming at Phillip Island where he finished equal sixth overall for the round.
Johnson also made appearances in the Dunlop Destiny Program Excels at Queensland Raceway and PIARC Pathway Races before switching to a Formula Ford for last year’s campaign.
Throughout a busy 2025 season, Johnson was behind the wheel of a Formula Ford car in the national Formula Ford Stars & Renegades Series and state-level series in Victoria, picking up multiple top 10 finishes throughout his 10-event program.
While Johnson is still in search of his first race win at a national level, his raw talent has already been earmarked by a number of highly esteemed organisations in motorsport, with Chevrolet Racing / ACDelco already throwing its support behind the youngster.
Earlier this week, Johnson was announced as one of the prestigious outfit’s junior drivers, joining the likes of Super2 rookie Alice Buckley in its 2026 development program.
The Victorian will form part of the growing Team Soutar Motorsport GT4 charge, with Zac Soutar and Glenn Nirwan already announced for the upcoming season.
Monochrome GT4 Australia officially gets underway for 2026, with the season opener LIQUI MOLY GT Festival Phillip Island to be held at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit on 27-29 March.

“I started karting at 13 and quickly fell in love with the sport before making the move to pursue cars seriously in 2024 with the support of GRM and the Bargwanna family, which was a massive step in my development. They’ve helped guide me through that transition, and now we’re ready to take the next step,” Johnson said.
“For me, Monochrome GT4 Australia was the next best step as my long-term goal is to race in the World Endurance Championship or IMSA, and starting in GT4 builds the perfect foundation – it gives me the chance to build experience in a GT car, understand race strategy, tyre management and endurance-style racing, and develop the skills I’ll need to progress up the ladder.
“Once I made the decision to do GT4 Australia, the next call I made was to join Zac and Team Soutar Motorsport after a lot of conversations with Peter Hackett. Being close to home was a big factor, as it allows me to be as hands-on as possible with the car and the crew.
“My expectations this year are simple – to get the absolute best out of myself and the car every time we hit the track. Every driver in this field is here to win, and our team is no different. We’re focused on maximising every opportunity and we’ll see where we stand come the final round.
“Joining the Chevrolet/ACDelco Junior Team is incredibly exciting. With Corvette and Cadillac competing in WEC and IMSA, it feels like I’m aligning with a pathway that matches my goals. And here in Australia, with Chevrolet’s presence in Supercars, I’ll have the chance to learn from some of the best drivers in the country. It’s an opportunity not many young drivers get, and I’m extremely grateful and excited for what’s ahead.”
