Miedecke Motorsport expands for 2026 Monochrome GT4 Australia charge with two new cars

Following two remarkable years in Monochrome GT4 Australia, Miedecke Motorsport with Lubrimaxx will expand to two cars for the upcoming season, with George Miedecke to lead an all-new line-up.

Behind the wheel of the latest-spec Ford Mustang GT4, Miedecke will be joined by up-and-coming teenage star Blake Tracey, while the team’s second Ford Mustang GT4 will be piloted by 2025 Radical Cup Australia champion Cooper Cutts and reigning Formula Ford champion Blake Dowdall.

With the team officially launching the strong double entry as part of the Bathurst 12 Hour, Ford Racing will again get behind the two cars, which join a hugely competitive Silver Cup field.

Miedecke has twice been a serious contender for Monochrome GT4 Australia Silver Cup honours in the previous two seasons alongside the outgoing Rylan Gray, with the pair finishing runner-up by seven points in 2024 before falling short by an even smaller margin last year, where one point proved the difference.

Across both seasons, Miedecke and Gray have remained near the top of the standings, winning nine races and picking up a further 10 podiums - including an historic maiden international victory for the Ford Mustang GT4 at Phillip Island in 2024.

With the two seasons in GT4 playing a key role in aiding Gray’s swift development as a driver, and helping him move to Supercars in 2026, Miedecke Motorsport with Lubrimaxx opted to continue blooding young rising stars, leading to the decision to bring in Tracey as co-driver, as well as expand with Cutts and Dowdall.
Australian motorsport fans may be forgiven for not being too familiar with Miedecke’s new teammate in Tracey, with the Victorian bursting onto the national scene last year in Trans Am.

Having graduated from karts at the start of 2024 and picking up two wins and four podiums from seven races in the Australian Excel Super Series, Tracey’s breakout season came last year when a switch to Trans Am and TA2 was rewarded with five wins, 10 podiums and four fastest laps - the highlight being a memorable maiden Trans Am round victory at The Bend courtesy of a clean sweep of wins.

On the other side of Miedecke Motorsport with Lubrimaxx garage will be a pair of champion drivers fresh from title-winning years.

For Cutts, the West Australian has predominantly spent his racing career in Radical Cup Australia, where he has featured since 2023. Right from the get-go, the talented youngster has been a proven winner - picking up his first race and round victory in his maiden season before doubling that tally in 2024 during his first title charge.

Last year, Cutts went on to seal the trophy following an epic season-long battle with series veteran Peter Paddon thanks to a handful of wins and plenty of podiums.

Rounding out the new-look outfit in the second Ford Mustang GT4 is Dowdall, who is the far more experienced steerer of the two despite having competed solely in Formula Ford.

With more than 100 races under his belt, Dowdall has a solid winning record, having taken top honours up to 19 times during a four-year spell across a range of Formula Ford categories - his best season coming last year with eight wins and 17 podiums in the North Island Formula Ford Series, leading to a runner-up finish overall before clinching the national Formula Ford Championship with a number of race wins.

The quartet officially launched their 2026 campaign at the Bathurst 12 Hour with the reveal of one of the two new Ford Mustangs , while the official Monochrome GT4 Australia season gets underway at GT Festival Phillip Island on 27-29 March.

“This is our third season in GT4 and it really feels like a new chapter for us. We’re continuing to expand the Miedecke Motorsport program, with an eye on growing it into a customer program for 2026,” Miedecke said.

“We thought carefully about what Miedecke Motorsport stands for. Rylan’s progression has really shaped who we are as a team and influenced our decision-making when it came to choosing our new drivers.

"Finding and developing the next generation, and giving back to a sport we’ve been fortunate to benefit from, is now a big part of Miedecke Motorsport’s identity. And with that, we had some fantastic options this year.

“Ultimately, we chose to back young talent with drivers who probably wouldn’t otherwise have had the opportunity to step into a GT car this season and help showcase what they can do. Blake might seem like he’s come out of nowhere, but what an exciting talent he is. Having already seen him behind the wheel of our car, I can tell you the hype is real.

“We’re also incredibly excited to have Cooper and Blake (Dowdall) in the second car. Cooper has transitioned remarkably quickly to driving a sedan and has showed a lot of promise. He’s a calculating and considered driver, but is also highly capable of putting together some real good laps. Blake is very analytical and is a proven champion totally focused on his racing craft and getting results, so they’ll both be great to watch.

“Over the years, we’ve worked hard to build something strong, and now it’s to know we’ve become a desirable place for drivers to be. Everyone who gets behind the wheel of a Miedecke Motorsport car knows they’ll have something fast, reliable and capable of doing the job.

"From the outset, our intention was to continue representing Ford in the best possible light. The Silver Cup was always our core focus, and bringing in a second car was about strengthening the entire program and another set of hands, eyes and feet to help push us forward, so I can’t wait to see what we’re capable of.”

“I'm looking forward to partnering with Miedecke Motorsport for the 2026 Monochrome GT4 Australia season, They've got a great name in the motorsport industry and having the blue logo is something that I'm super proud to be a part of,” Tracey said.

“George, along with the car and team, is capable of winning a title, and that really excites me because I do love the pressure of fighting for silverware, which I find makes me a better driver, so hopefully I can help George get that trophy this year.

“Looking at what Rylan did last year just makes me want to try and do an even better job than that. He has gone on to race Supercars so hopefully I can compare well and just show what I can do too.

“I will also be running a Mustang in the Trans Am Series, which despite being completely opposite cars to drive, is going to be cool to take a little bit from both and turn it into one fast way of driving.

“It's a dream come true for me from racing around the paddock as a kid in an AU Falcon to now being an official Ford driver, so I'm extremely excited for the season to get started.”

Cooper Cutts

“Growing up, I was always a fan of Ford. My dad was Ford and I never had a choice,” said Cutts.

“After winning the Radical series last year, we looked at our options and got talking to George and it all worked out like this.

“The reason I picked GT4 was a number of things. We looked at budgets, categories that had competitive fields and it all pointed to GT4. We loved going to the SpeedSeries rounds last year, and we saw lots of the racing and it just made sense for us.

“Our goal is to win, of course. We tested at Phillip Island and it was great, despite the fact that I’ve never driven anything like this before.

“The whole program will be about learning. It’s a big step, but I’m confident that we’ll be competitive from the first round.”

Blake Dowdall

“This is the best team that I could be with, especially being fresh off a Formula Ford season,” said Dowdell.

“The team has done a great job in the past two seasons, and that’s exactly the team that I want to be with.

“I’m a little nervous, but really excited. I tested at Phillip Island recently and it was a little different to what I was used to. It requires a different approach to what I’m used to, but I feel like I adapted pretty quickly.

“Our expectations are to be competitive, no doubt. I’m not ready to lay down big goals, but any race driver who wants to be successful wants to be at the front as soon as possible. As soon as that helmet goes on, the goal is to win, but we’ll just learn as much as we can and hopefully be in with a chance.”
