Monochrome GT4 Australia Am Cup contenders looking to secure title in 2026

Proven Am Cup duo Chris Lillis and Nathan Callaghan will be looking to go one step further in their bid for a class title in 2026 with the pair locked in for the full Monochrome GT4 Australia season.

Following a stellar maiden season in the series last year, where they finished second in the Am Cup, the pair will once again be behind the wheel of a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS CS and under the stewardship of Method Motorsport.

In what will be their second year working with the successful Queensland-based outfit, Lillis and Callaghan will enter the season as one of the favourites having enjoyed a strong debut season last year.

Finishing runner-up to two-time champion Jacob Lawrence, Lillis and Callaghan guided their Porsche to two class wins and a further four podiums across the season, while being the only entry across the season to finish at least one race at every round on the podium.

In addition to that, they managed to pick up four Pole Positions along the way and challenged for the title all the way through to the final round.

Before the duo made their mark in Monochrome GT4 Australia last year, the West Australians both have had long-standing careers in motorsport, having competed at state and national level for more than two decades.

Multi-time class champions in Australian Production Cars and Saloon Cars, the pair’s biggest highlight was scoring an outright podium at the 2019 Bathurst 6 Hour in a VF Commodore alongside Matthew Holt, where they were the first ever non-BMW entry to finish on the outright podium in the event’s history – a feat that has only been repeated once since.

The pair begin their 2026 Monochrome GT4 Australia campaign at the Shannons SpeedSeries’ LIQUI MOLY GT Festival Phillip Island at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit on 27-29 March.

“We’re really looking forward to the season. Now that we understand how everything runs and know the lay of the land, we’re coming into this year with a lot more confidence,” Lillis said.

“Last year was a really strong year and we’re proud of what we achieved, but we had a couple of unfortunate DNFs that hurt our championship campaign. This year is about building on what we learned and going after the trophy we just missed out on.

“We’ve got a lot of confidence heading into this season. Last year was a big learning curve – understanding how to drive the car, how it behaves and how to get the most out of it.

“This year is about applying those lessons and being consistent. Of course, we’re focused on winning the Am Cup, but we’re also focused on improving ourselves as drivers, and Method Motorsport gives us all the tools to do that.

“We’re excited to have Blake Holden back as our engineer and some of our own mechanics from Production Cars, while also having State Wide Oil and Harvey Norman remain as our main supporters this year, so there’s great continuity across all areas. For us, it’s about keeping the team together and doing the best job we can.

“We were fortunate to podium at every round last year and finish second overall, so there’s no doubt our goal this year is to win the Am Cup. We know the competition is strong, which is going to make it exciting.”

“Last year was a strong first season for us. It took a while to get that first win, but once we did, we managed to get two on the board. Now the goal is to roll out a few more this year,” Callaghan said.

“Before the season started, we genuinely didn’t know where we’d stack up. It’s such a different class for us, so there were a lot of unknowns, and although we never quite managed a double podium in any round, to come out and finish second in our first race was pretty cool.

“We were in contention right up until the last round, which gives us a lot of confidence for this year. It would’ve been tough to come in and win it in year one, so we always wanted to commit to at least two years and really have a proper crack at it.

“This year, the aim is simple: if we can put two strong results together across a weekend, that’ll put us in a really good position to win the championship. Whoever we’re up against, we’ll be going all out.

“Working with Method Motorsport again this year was an easy decision. They’re such a professional team and are easily the best team I’ve been involved with. Having Chaz involved is a huge bonus as well. He’s a ball of knowledge and brings so much experience to the program. We’re really keen to continue building that relationship.”
