GT4 MANUFACTURER RANKING: Marathon season ahead for nine brands as Ginetta joins global contest

The GT4 Manufacturer Ranking begins its third global campaign this weekend (14/15 March) when SRO GT Cup’s season opener at the Formula 1 Heineken Chinese Grand Prix kicks off another packed year of racing across four continents.

Launched in 2024, the Ranking allows GT4 brands to score points in selected series organised or licensed by SRO Motorsports Group. The first two titles were both won by BMW, which fought off Porsche to claim the inaugural crown before dominating the 2025 season.

A ninth brand joins the fray this year as Ginetta becomes eligible to score Manufacturer Ranking points for the first time. The British marque is no stranger to GT4 competition: it scored three Championnat de France FFSA GT wins in 2025 and performed well in other series around the world.

Its rivals comprise the same eight brands that have contested the past two seasons. BMW will defend its 2025 crown, which was won thanks to 17 race victories across six different series. The Bavarian marque finished well clear of Porsche, while Toyota edged Aston Martin in a tight battle for third place. Mercedes-AMG, McLaren, Audi and Ford completed the 2025 standings and will fight for victory again this term. All nine brands retain the same models used in 2025.

The global calendar is also evolving to better reflect participation trends. Championships counting towards the Manufacturer Ranking must have at least six eligible full-season entries at the start of their campaigns.

Provisionally, in Europe points will be awarded in ADAC GT4 Germany, British GT, FFSA GT, the GT4 European Series and new GT4 Italy Series. Across the Atlantic, eligible brands can score in Pirelli GT4 America and GT America, while Asia’s contingent comprises Japan Cup and SRO GT Cup. Monochrome GT4 Australia represents Oceania.

Sprint races of up to 90 minutes award points using the standard global system, running from 25 for the winner to one for 10th place, while races lasting two or three hours pay double points (50 for the win down to two for 10th). A maximum of two cars per registered manufacturer are eligible to score; cars from manufacturers not entered in the Ranking will be considered invisible, and their positions and points redistributed to the next eligible entry.

The 2026 campaign launches on 14/15 March when SRO GT Cup begins its second season of competition. As was the case last year, the single-driver series will kick off in support of the Formula 1 Heineken Chinese Grand Prix at the Shanghai International Circuit.

The season steps up a gear on 28/29 March with Monochrome GT4 Australia travelling to Phillip Island and Pirelli GT4 America and GT America decamping to Sonoma. This will be the first of 12 weekends to feature two or more events.

Eight series launch before the end of April, setting a pace that continues through to the deciding races in November. There are just three weekends off between early May and late October, including a run of 12 rounds in six weeks from the start of September.
