Monochrome GT4 Australia saw plenty of familiar names occupy the top three in each class during Practice 2 of LIQUI MOLY GT Festival Phillip Island.
Another straightforward session for the category saw all drivers get out on track for one last run before tomorrow’s ever-important qualifying sessions.
Silver
It was a similar top three in the Silver Class to Practice 1, as Lochie Dalton and Aaron Cameron once again topped the timesheets in Practice 2, with Cameron’s overall lap time of 1:35.185 in the Multispares Racing Ford Mustang GT going unbeaten.
The duo’s Multispares Racing teammates, Cam McLeod and Mason Harvey, were second fastest in the class as they ended up just under two tenths of a second slower on the timesheets.
Rounding out the top three for the class was the Miedecke Motorsport with Lubrimaxx Ford Mustang GT4 of Blake Tracey and George Miedecke, after their time of 1:35.474 was less than a tenth of a second slower than the second Multispares Racing entry.
Making up the top five for the session was the second Miedecke Motorsport with Lubrimaxx Ford Mustang of Cooper Cutts and Blake Dowdall in fourth, and Method Motorsport’s Tom Hayman and Jett Murray in their McLaren Artura GT4 in fifth – the two cars split by a remarkable four thousandths of a second.
Silver-Am
Reigning Silver-Am Cup champions Aaron Seton and Jason Gomersall topped the Silver-Am Cup timesheets in Practice 2 with a time of 1:35.313, going faster by two tenths of a second over CAMM Quarries & Concrete Racing’s Lachlan Evennett and Andrew Torti in the Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO 2.
Going third fastest in the session was Tufflift Racing by TSM’s Zac Soutar and Glenn Nirwan in the McLarenArtura GT4, with their time of 1:35.713 edging the next best entry of Practice 1 pace setters Cameron Crick and Dean Campbell by eight hundredths of a second.
The Method Motorsport Ford Mustang GT4 drivers ended up setting a time of 1:35.754, which came on Crick’s last lap of the session, while going fifth fastest for the session was Randall Racing’s Lachlan Mineeff and Jacob Lawrence in the BMW M4 GT4 G82.
Am Cup
Gomersall Motorsport’s Glenn Walker made it two out of two fastest times on Friday, as his 12th lap time of 1:36.859 proved unbeaten during Practice 2 in the afternoon.
As the only Am driver to break into the 1:36s, Walker proved too strong for the rest of the field, putting him in a strong position for tomorrow’s qualifying session.
In second for the final practice session of the day was Method Motorsport’s Chris Lillis and Nathan Callaghan in the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS CS.
Going third for the session were Bailey and Rob Love in The Love Racing by TSM Mercedes-AMG GT4, who were seven tenths of a second off Lillis and Callaghan, while it was another Method Motorsport driver in Ryan Sorensen who was fourth, with the McLaren Artura GT4 driver less than a tenth behind.
Rounding out the top five for the session was Tony Quinn in the Game Over Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO II.
Following two practice sessions on Friday, Monochrome GT4 Australia will be back on track with Qualifying 1 and 2 at 9:10am AEDT.
