Monochrome GT4 Australia got its first taste of Sydney Motorsport Park on Friday afternoon with the opening session of the LIQUI MOLY GT Festival Sydney.
Kicking off the fifth round of the 2026 season, the competitive field of GT4 machinery hit the Sydney Motorsport Park circuit for its first official laps of the weekend, with plenty of interesting results across all three classes.
Silver
Team Soutar Motorsport's William Exton and Jack Johnson led the way in the Silver class, producing a 1:34.7464 aboard the McLaren Artura GT4.
The #114 McLaren enjoyed a solid run out as their best time was more than one second faster the next best crew in the #35 Miedecke Motorsport with Lubrimaxx Ford Mustang GT4 of Blake Tracey and George Miedecke, who posted a time of 1:34.8460.
Purdie Racing / Team BRM's Blake Purdie and Jobe Stewart rounded out the Silver class top three with a 1:34.8606 in their Audi R8 LMS GT4 - less than one hundredth of a second off the Mustang.
The result set up an extremely tight battle at the front of the class, with less than two-tenths of a second separating the top three.
Silver-Am
Norganic Proteins' Caleb Paterson and Kent Quinn set the benchmark in the Silver-Am class, posting the fastest lap of the session with a 1:34.3044 aboard the #28 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS CS.
The pair edged out the Thunder Buddies Racing / Black Diamond BMW M4 GT4 G82 of Ryder Quinn and Stevan Jakic, who finished second in class with a 1:35.2333.
Ashley Seward Motorsport's Dylan O'Keeffe and Tim Leahey enjoyed a solid first session of the year completed the Silver-Am top three, setting a 1:35.2659 in their BMW M4 GT4 G82 to finish just over a tenth of a second away from second position.
Am
Method Motorsport's Ryan Sorensen led the way in the Am class, setting a 1:36.8599 in the McLaren Artura GT4.
Gomersall Motorsport's Glenn Walker finished second fastest in class aboard his Ford Mustang GT4, posting a 1:37.1479 to finish just under three-tenths of a second away from Sorensen's benchmark.
The Method Motorsport Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS CS of Nathan Callaghan and Chris Lillis completed the Am class top three with a 1:37.4218.
With the opening session complete, the Monochrome GT4 Australia field will return to the track at 4:30pm AEST for the day’s second and final practice session.
