New Porsche expected for Zoe Woods

New Porsche expected for Zoe Woods

Zoe Woods will have a new weapon at her disposal at Sydney Motorsport Park as she is set to debut in one Porsche Motorsport Australia’s recently allocated 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport.

Entered in the highly competitive Silver Cup, Woods has made steady progress throughout the season so far although a retirement last time out at Phillip Island’s GT Festival sent off the older Porsche in disappointing fashion.

For the first time this season Woods linked up with Carrera Cup driver Tom McLennan and it was a success as she was able to gain time through comparing data.

“It was great having Tom,” said Woods.

“He really helped me in a lot of ways because I had Danny Stutterd at Queensland Raceway and having another Pro driver was great.

“Tom was faster than me, but I was able to take data and footage, so it’s been great to have someone from Carrera Cup and a driver who has been around the Porsche product for a while.”

TekworkX Motorsport also expanded its operation as the Black Diamond Building and Construction BMW M4 G82 GT4 came under its umbrella, taking a Pro-Am Class win with Steve Jakic and Ryder Quinn.

On confirming the new Porsche, Woods also explained why she joined Monochrome GT4 Australia.

“We have one of the new Porsches coming,” she revealed.

“I definitely thought it was the next step.

“Between Paul Morris (my coach from the Norwell Motorplex), my dad (Rob Woods, owner of TekworkX Motorsport) and I we decided what was the next step.

“I did a year in production cars and another in 86s, which I tested a lot due to being available to drive at Norwell. We were searching for the next step and GT4 was suggested, with dad happy to take the leap.”

Woods believes Monochrome GT4 Australia has a great future and wants to race in the formula internationally.

“I see myself doing this for a couple of years definitely,” said Woods.

“There’s a lot of pathways with GT4 in Europe and America, which is where I want to go to open up further opportunities.

“I think it is a great category that has entered Australia. It’s got room to grow and that’s what it’s all about.”

The next round of Monochrome GT4 Australia is at Sydney Motorsport Park on October 18-20 as part of the Shannons SpeedSeries.
