Production car champions switch to Monochrome GT4 Australia

Reigning Australian Production Cars Series winners Dean Campbell and Cameron Crick have made the switch to Monochrome GT4 Australia for 2025.

The duo dominated the production car Series in a BMW M2 Competition last year scoring 15 victories on the way to the X Class and Outright title.

Now, Campbell and Crick have turned to American muscle for their attack on Monochrome GT4 Australia’s Silver-Am Cup by acquiring a new Ford Mustang GT4 through Miedecke Motorsport.

Crick is one of the more versatile drivers in the country racing a wide array of categories including the Toyota 86 Racing Series, V8 Superutes and Super2. Recently, Crick piloted a Matt Stone Racing Wildcard at the opening Repco Supercars Championship round in Sydney.

For Campbell, this will be his first step out of production cars following a successful stint in this category prior to his title winning season last year.

The pairing adds to a significantly increased level of competition in Monochrome GT4 Australia for its second standalone season in 2025.

The pair’s Mustang is due to arrive in the country soon, with Campbell and Crick aiming to do some testing depending on the customs process prior to its debut at Round 1.

The opening round of the 2025 Monochrome GT4 Australia season will be as part of the Shannons SpeedSeries at Phillip Island on April 4-6.

Tickets for the season opener can be purchased via the speedseries.com.au

“We’ve watched it, we know it’s a good thing and the cars are serious, which is what we want to be in,” said Campbell.

“We won the national title in Production Cars, so we feel like that is a box ticked and we want to move on to challenge ourselves in a category that is tougher again.

“We’ve chosen to go down the muscle car route. The Mustangs are starting to prove themselves. Don’t get me wrong I still love the BMW, though we had to weigh up what our sponsors wanted. Also, the outlay for the Mustang is more expensive, but then taking a deep dive into the costs of parts and it is a lot more cost effective to run.

“Miedecke Motorsport is going to have the truck there with the parts to buy it if you need it, which is also advantageous.

“Cam’s ability is underrated at times. I’ve seen where he’s come from in the development categories driving Toyota 86s and when we turned up in production cars early on, Cam’s got serious talent.

"I've been doing a lot of racing with Dean as he's been a sponsor of mine and we won the production car series last year, so I am looking forward to getting back together with him for the series," said Crick.

"For me, it's going to be good to get some extra racing on top of my Supercars duties, and it will allow me to stay sharp in a good category that's growing along with an organisation like SRO Motorsports Australia running it.

“The series certainly has legs and I think it's going to help Dean learn a lot more as the cars are a lot faster than other production cars.

"Dean has been a sponsor of mine for a while now, and for him, the series is definitely the next step up. There is no doubt Dean is gonna have a challenge with learning a new car, but I have every faith in him as a driver. He probably needs to back himself a little more as he's pretty handy and can pick up on things quite quickly.

"Based on our experience together, I think we a pretty good chance of success in the Silver-Am class, however we will just have learn the car over the next few weeks – we already work well together and have done so a bit over the years, so if we can get Dean up to speed as quick as we can, then we should get some good results."
