Ryan Sorensen has confirmed he will return to Monochrome GT4 Australia in 2026 with the hopes of continuing his good form from his brief stint in the series at GT Festival Hampton Downs at the end of last year.
Once again expected to tackle the Am Cup in one of Method Motorsport’s McLaren Artura GT4s, Sorensen will contest the season as a solo entry.
The Queenslander had a decent year overall behind the wheel in 2025, which started off with a premature end to the Bathurst 12 Hour after an incident around the famous circuit.
However, two top-five class finishes in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia series at Sydney Motorsport Park gave him plenty of confidence ahead of his Monochrome GT4 Australia debut in New Zealand.
There, he showed promising signs in Friday’s track sessions before putting the McLaren on pole position in the second qualifying session – the fifth fastest car overall.
He went even better in the opening race of the weekend with a well-deserved podium after leading the Am Cup field for the majority of the race, and eventually capped off his successful debut weekend with a top-five Am Cup finish on Sunday.
Still in the infancy of his career, with a short stint in the Australian Formula Open Series his only other experience in the sport, Sorensen continues to go from strength to strength in his development.
Sorensen will partake in a couple of team test days in the coming weeks before getting his first full Monochrome GT4 Australia campaign under way next month as part of the Shannons SpeedSeries’ LIQUI MOLY GT Festival Phillip Island at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit on 27-29 March.

“I am looking forward to returning to Monochrome GT4 Australia and doing a full season. I think we've got a couple of days testing coming up, which will be cool,” Sorensen said.
“I am keen to get on with this year after the way we finished the season last year. I wasn't expecting such a good result in New Zealand, but it has given us a bit of confidence going into this year to hopefully build on that.
“It’s obviously good to join Method Motorsport again as the team is amazing. They're a great bunch of people and to drive with them in New Zealand was a lot of fun, so it’s even better that I get to drive with them this year.
“I couldn’t ask for a better group of mentors either with the likes of Chaz Mostert and Aaron Reed helping me progress my driving career.
“I think based on the run we had in New Zealand, there are expectations to do well. I know I'm driving on my own, but it'll be a good experience and um, pretty keen to get after it.”
“Most of all, I’m proud to be part of a team like this. Professional, passionate, and genuinely good people. That makes the journey just as rewarding as the results.”
