Tony Quinn to run with Monochrome GT4 Australia again in 2026

Motorsport veteran Tony Quinn will once again compete in Monochrome GT4 Australia in 2026 after locking in a full-season campaign in the Keltic Racing Toyota Supra GT4 EVO 2.

One of Australasia’s most experienced and enduring motorsport competitors, Quinn will join grandson Ryder and son Kent in the popular series as he looks to enjoy his driving in the category.

The Scottish-born driver has had quite a presence in the series, competing regularly across the past two years and using the series as a platform to build the profile of young rising stars across both Australia and New Zealand.

In 2024, Quinn teamed up with Jackson Rooney at The Bend and scored a podium together in the opening race before having Queenslander Matthew McCutcheon join him at Queensland Raceway, where the pair won the endurance race together on Sunday morning.

Last year, Quinn amped up his game and attended four rounds, picking up three podiums across the four events.
He first tasted success for the year at Sydney Motorsport Park, where he and New Zealander Hugo Allan finished the weekend with a runner-up finish on the Sunday.

Another Kiwi, Chris White, then joined him for the visit to Queensland Raceway, where Quinn made it back-to-back podiums with a third place on Saturday.

Quinn then linked back up with McCutcheon for Sandown, where they scored his third and final podium for the year in the opening race of the weekend.

While Quinn is confirmed to run solo for the season-opening LIQUI MOLY GT Festival Phillip Island, he will look at replicating the past two years and bring in emerging talents round-by-round.

Boasting a career spanning several decades and more than 500 race starts, Quinn has competed in a range of national categories since debuting at the start of the century, including Porsche Carrera Cup, Australian Nations Cup, Australian GT, Australian Production Cup and Aussie Racing Cars.

He has also raced in a number of high-profile endurance events, including multiple, Nürburgring 24 Hours, Sandown 500s, Bathurst 6 Hour and 12 events – his most recent Bathurst 12 Hour effort making history where he rode alongside son Kent and grandson Ryder.

He hasn’t just made up the numbers either, having picked up a fair share of victories, including back-to-back class wins at the Bathurst 6 Hour in 2022 and 2023, as well as wins in Australian GT, Highlands 101 - New Zealand and Townsville Tin Tops Super Sports class events.

One of his biggest wins, however, came much earlier in his career at the 2008 Dubai 24 Hour, where he won the A6 Class alongside Klark Quinn, Craig Baird and Jonathon Webb.

In addition to his racing career, Quinn has been a key figure in motorsport through his ownership of Hampton Downs, Highlands Motorsport Park and Queensland Raceway.

Quinn begins his third season in Monochrome GT4 Australia at next week’s LIQUI MOLY GT Festival Phillip Island on 27-29 March.

“I’m looking forward to getting back into Monochrome GT4 Australia. It’s a good series, and I’ll go out there and do my bit,” Quinn said.

“I don’t come in with big expectations anymore. I’m not chasing championships or anything like that – I’m just there to enjoy it. It’s about filling in the weekends, being around the paddock and catching up with everyone.

“I used to race properly, going for wins and titles, but that’s not the case anymore. Now I just go out there to drive and enjoy it – I just love being part of it.

“The series is full of talent and it’s great to see the younger guys coming through. They’ve got some fantastic opportunities ahead of them, and it’s exciting to watch their progress over the season.

“I’ll do as many rounds as I can. I’m not sure if I’ll make them all, but I’ll be out there whenever I can.

“I also like to do it for the Kiwi contingent. Last year we had a few young New Zealand drivers involved, and if the opportunity comes up again this year, we’ll definitely look at doing that.”
