Team Soutar Motorsport targeting GT4 in expansion plans

Leading TCR Australia Series squad Team Soutar Motorsport is expanding its operations in 2025 and has earmarked Monochrome GT4 Australia as the category it is aiming to get involved with.

A race winning outfit in TCR Australia of which it currently leads, Team Soutar Motorsport is led by father-son duo Shane and Zac Soutar running two Audi RS3 LMS TCR entries and is targeting an expansion into the burgeoning Monochrome GT4 Australia field next year.

Since joining TCR Australia in 2021, the Geelong-based operation has scored three victories as a privateer squad spearheaded by Zac Soutar as its lead driver. Soutar leads the standings heading into the season’s closing stages, which is a significant feat considering it expanded to running a pair of Audis in 2024.

Indonesian driver Glenn Nirwan joined Team Soutar Motorsport at the beginning of the season, entrusting the squad to prepare and run his Audi RS3 LMS TCR during his maiden season.

With the successful addition of Nirwan to the team, Soutar is targeting further growth for the operation in 2025 and believes Monochrome GT4 Australia is the perfect fit for the squad in 2025.

“Team Soutar Motorsport has always run as a family operation for my own racing ambitions, and we’ve been punching above our weight for quite a long time,” explained Soutar.

“This year we’ve expanded to two cars with the addition of Glenn Nirwan to our motorsport family. From running two cars this season and moving away from being just a single car privateer team, it’s made both Shane and myself realise that we want to pursue running a professional motorsport team.”

Alongside his TCR Australia Series campaign in 2025, Soutar is aiming to have a presence in Monochrome GT4 Australia next year for his team.

“The growth of GT4 over the last 12 months has been great to witness from the outside looking in,” said Soutar.

“With its Pro, Pro-Am and Am categories making competitive racing accessible to drivers with all levels of ability and experience, I think it’s a category that will only continue to grow into the future here in Australia.

“From my team’s perspective, we would ideally like to have customers who own their own GT4 cars and are looking for a team to prepare, store, transport and run their cars on race weekends.”

Team Soutar Motorsport is set-up to provide an all-round service to its customers, courtesy of its equipment, knowledge and experience in the motor racing industry.

“The expansion of our team this year has been rapid,” Soutar added.

“We are now in a position where we have some fantastic equipment including a multi-car vehicle transporter, an at-circuit data station, plus all of the equipment and staff necessary to run multiple cars during a race weekend.”

Off-track, Soutar is a respected driver coach and this adds further value to running as part of his operation.

“I’ve had a lot of experience with both driving and coaching drivers in GT4 racing cars over the years. With this in mind my aim is to provide a one-stop shop style of team that not only runs the cars and delivers a fantastic, professional show at the circuit, but also provides in-depth coaching to drivers as well.”

The next round of Monochrome GT4 Australia will be a part of the Race Sydney event on the October 18-20.
